Recycling at HMD Kontro

We try to recycle as many of the waste products generated at our site in Eastbourne, UK. HMD Kontro is a conscientious manufacturer of metallic pumps.

As part of our design process and manufacturing activities, we ensure, as far as possible, that the products we produce and the materials used to make them can be recycled at the end of their natural life.

This is true of all metallic items and the ZeroLoss® containment shell can also be ground down and moulded into another product for continued use. Additionally, onsite we attempt to be as environmentally conscious as possible and, therefore, the vast majority of our waste is recycled, including 100% of the following:

  • Paper
  • Wood
  • Metal
  • Solvents
  • Paint Waste
  • Batteries
  • Toner Cartridges
  • Light Bulbs
  • Computer Equipment
  • Electrical Equipment
  • Waste Oil

The only exceptions are plastic, of which minimal amounts are generated, because our pumps are principally metallic in their construction. Unfortunately, waste recovery companies require a minimum of 5 tons to collect at present, although we are continuing to make enquiries to find a potential provider.

The other waste item which we are unable to recycle is food and so we ask all our staff to take any waste from their lunches and other meals home where kerbside recycling is available in the local area. Indeed, we also ask them to take any drink bottles or cans home for recycling in a similar manner.

If you have any ideas or initiatives to help us to be even more sustainable and to further help our recycling initiatives, please do not hesitate to contact us.
