HMD Kontro GSPX – General Service Petroleum BB5 API 685 Sealless Magnetic Drive Pump

The GSPX sealless magnetic drive pump from HMD Kontro is a multi-stage leak-free pump for safe and efficient high-differential processing and is particularly suitable for the handling of hazardous and valuable hydrocarbons and chemicals.

It uses proven magnetic drive technology and produces higher differential pressure than single-stage sealless models.

The pump is built to API 685 specifications and is suitable for petrochemical processing, petroleum production and refining, offshore and chemical processing applications complying with all industry specifications. The GSP is typically used in toxic, aggressive, hot, crystallising and high value processes.

Its sealless design delivers total product containment and its interchangeable components and commonality with the GSP pump range maximise convenience and reduce spare parts holding.

The GSPX delivers in terms of space, costs and servicing when compared with standard single stage pumps. It has high head performance in a compact sealless magnetic drive package providing more safety and efficiency and maximum uptime. It also has an optimised diffuser design and optional ZeroLoss® composite containment shell and thus eliminates coupling losses and heating of the process liquid.

Benefits of the HMD Kontro GSPX Pump:

    • Multiple inline stages in an end-suction configuration
    • Compact package and easy plant installation
    • BB5 barrel style design
    • API compliant with no tie bolts
    • Interchangeable parts
    • Based on the proven Frame 2 magnetic drive pump
    • 2 or 3 stage options available
    • Two diffuser based hydraulic options
Flows to 85 m³/hr (450 gpm)
Heads to  295 m (1400 ft)
Pressure  40 bar / 580 psi

Our pumps combine cutting-edge technology with over seventy years of expertise and experience to give you complete piece of mind.

Product Security – Magnetic drive sealless pumps are the safest and most robust means for liquid transfer. By eliminating the seal, the primary opportunities for leaks associated with traditional sealed pumps are completely removed.

Efficiency – By improving performance and reducing maintenance calls, sealless magnetic drive pumps can dramatically lower downtime and lost production. In sum, this equates to maximised efficiency that can be seen on your bottom line.

Reliability – Sealless magnetic drive pumps have proven their reliability in even the most severe climate conditions, from the frozen tundra of Siberia to the deserts of the Middle East and the humid climes of Louisiana’s refineries. In fact, there are  HMD Kontro pumps that have been in operation for over 30 years and are still running today.

Safety – HMD Kontro sealless magnetic drive pumps are manufactured to conform to international design and safety standards, including ATEX, ISO, API and ANSI requirements.  Plus, with no mechanical seals to leak hazardous chemicals, these pumps offer a clear choice for process industry professionals who regularly deal with volatile or high value materials.

Cost-effective – Sealless magnetic drive pumps require less monitoring and maintenance than traditional sealed designs, equating to substantial savings over the life of the pump.

Service – Global service centres keep HMD Kontro sealless magnetic drive pumps operating with peak performance.  Standard pumps and parts are available from the factory and in the field.

POWER MONITOR

Installed in the Motor Control Centre (MCC), a power monitor measures the power required to operate the pump.  By setting High and Low trip points, the power monitor is the perfect solution for protecting your pump from:

  • Dry running
  • Low flow operation
  • High flow operation
  • Severe cavitation
  • Magnet decoupling

Reduces Power Losses in the Pump to Zero

  • Excellent energy savings can now be made thanks to the introduction of the ZeroLoss® containment shell for larger pumps. The elimination of eddy current losses can result in up to a 20% saving in power consumption, further enhancing the benefits and green credentials of magnetic drive technology from Sundyne HMD Kontro.
  • The advantage increases in proportion with the magnetic coupling size and is particularly appropriate for larger pumps, making the magnetic drive option even more attractive because through life costs are reduced further. Lower power consumption not only results in reduced running costs but also potentially provides lower initial capital costs, as smaller motors can be specified.
  • In addition, installation costs can be reduced as lower-rated cabling may be required, and there are space-savings from the ability to use a smaller base plate for the pump and motor combination.

A gas detection system designed to bolster the reliability and eliminate dry-running of HMD Kontro API-685 sealless magnetic drive pumps. This warning system mitigates costly pump component replacements and downtime that can result from dry running, entrainment or cavitation.

The VapourView® is powered by an industry standard 24 VDC supply and returns a 4-20 mA signal suitable for monitoring using a distributed control system (DCS). It features both light emitting diode (LED) and liquid crystal displays (LCD) to provide information on process fluid conditions inside of the pump to process engineers.

The VapourView® has been performance tested and is compliant with explosive atmosphere and electro-magnetic compatibility requirements. The VapourView® non-intrusive gas-in-liquid detector can be easily retrofitted into any HMD Kontro API 685 pump and will operate at temperatures between -40 and +350 degrees F (-40 and +180 degrees C).

HMD Kontro sealless magnetic drive pumps are available with secondary control devices to restrict any leaks. Mechanical devices are fitted to the drive shaft assembly and are activated in the unlikely event of containment shell failure. The pump coupling housing is also fitted with gaskets to eliminate any leaks across the joining faces.

All HMD Kontro pumps, as standard, can handle up to 5% hard solids and 150 microns diameter. The solid size can increase to 8% solids and 250 microns by fitting a self-cleaning in line filter.

For larger solids, HMD Kontro can provide pumps with a clean flush system or filter built into the flush pipework.
